EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and can be adapted to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity resulting in higher payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated truck's one wall structure inside and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks allows for seamless sanitation, improved temperature control and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a world-class payload to range ratio for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has joined forces with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to quickly change to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging at 75 kW.
We were allowed to test drive the EV9 on a local highway for several hours and found it to be simple to drive and comfortable to drive over long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 is a master of reducing wind and road noise on the highway. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by releasing the accelerator.

The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two modes of operation: eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode is a preference for torque and cruise control and the sport mode is designed to maximize speed and handling. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who have never experienced driving an electric vehicle before.
In green scooter to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, micro-transit, transit vanpool, bus or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of older diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demand of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be Altoona-tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA certified. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. Keep an eye on us as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We'll be sure to give more details about this EV that is truly innovative!
